Antique stove Restoration |
1930's De Dietrich. |
Each of our antique stoves has been carefully chosen and meticulously reconstructed. In fact the stoves are so well restored that we sometimes have difficulty convincing people that these are the genuine, antique article, not reproduction!
To the untutored eye, it seems a minor miracle that the old stoves arriving at our Copenhagen restoration works could ever grace an elegant home again. Dirt, rust, old paint and fire cement are removed and every crevice scoured. Each stove is then bombarded with fine glass beads under intense pressure in a blasting chamber. Once pristine, any flaws are revealed and only those antique stoves suitable for complete restoration will go beyond this point.
Internal cast-iron grates and new firebricks are then fitted, all joints are fire sealed and every stove graphited and polished. Finally, all stoves are smoke-tested to ensure fume entegrity.
The result? A unique, completely restored stove that makes a statement no reproduction ever can. As an artefact, an Ovne Antique Stove will give hours of pleasure to the eye. What's more, as a practical appliance it will heat space efficiently and cost effectively.
